Job Title:       Regional Compliance & Risk Manager, 
                         Central Europe & CIS

Location:           Hanau (Frankfurt am Main), Germany


Purpose of the Position

To work as part of the Central Europe & CIS regional management team, the EMEA C&R team and the BSI Germany team to ensure the Central Europe & CIS market cluster obtains and maintains accreditation with appropriate Accreditation Bodies and Notified Bodies.

The jobholder’s responsibility has its accent/focus in compliance & risk across Central Europe & CIS to conduct accreditations and audits and lead compliance & risk across the countries within the Central Europe & CIS Market Cluster.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • To contribute actively to execution of the Central Europe & CIS Region Business Strategy.
  • As agreed with the Regional Director & EMEA C&R Director, lead all aspects of the relationship between the business and its accreditation bodies in Central Europe & CIS, ensuring all matters related to compliance are effectively controlled. 
  • Manage the registration of assessors in line with EMEA Process and other technical specialists against the necessary criteria, to ensure they are suitably qualified to undertake testing, assessment and certification work for the business.
  • Manage the local implementation of, the quality review and decision process for all Certification and Notified Body decisions produced by the business, whilst under the governance of the EMEA C&R Director, ensuring Certificates are issued to clients as appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively with other teams and the EMEA C&R Team to define, maintain and enhance specific testing, assessment & certification schemes associated with the product portfolio, such that accreditation and Notified Body status for such schemes is maintained in Central Europe & CIS.
  • Coordinate the tracking, timely resolution, root-cause analysis and resulting rectification of all client complaints for the business in Central Europe & CIS using the BSI Global tools and process.
  • Coordinate and/or manage maintenance and enhancement of the businesses’ policies, procedures and management systems, based on best practice and lessons learnt, aligning with Group Business streams where necessary.
  • Manage a programme of audits for Central Europe & CIS, covering compliance to necessary standards to obtain and maintain accreditation, and also compliance to the businesses’ own policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Fully engage with the EMEA Risk & Compliance Director for all matters relating to compliance to the businesses’ management systems, including risk, health and safety.
  • Manage the Risk Profile and Insurance renewal process across Central Europe & CIS, consolidating risks from the different countries into regional risks.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with the Compliance & Risk stakeholders in each country, identifying and deploying best practice collaboratively within that community, while evaluating performance against KPI’s and producing consolidated reporting. 
  • Establish and maintain appropriate links with internal and external committees and forums where appropriate, coordinated with the businesses’ management team.
  • Ensure that all activities are undertaken in line with BSI protocols and quality procedures.
  • Other responsibilities as specified from time to time.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Proactively plan and manage all compliance & risk matters within Central Europe & CIS and its country offices in Germany, Poland and Russia
  • Implement the use of the single global Management system within the region
  • Provide regular reports as requested by the Regional Director or EMEA stakeholders
  • Completion of all insurance documentation and renewal annually and on an ongoing basis
  • Successful management of all notified body matters for Central Europe & CIS
  • Validate all current risks demonstrated on riskpoint and monthly risk mapping and reporting to EMEA C&R Director
  • Provide clear leadership to the country based C&R Managers where applicable
  • Ensure all direct reports have defined objectives and development plans
  • Implantation of cluster internal audit, management review program, impartiality analysis and governance actions.
  • Ensure adoption of global systems where possible.
  • Implementation of staff qualification and requalification programs.
     

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • MSc or Graduate calibre
  • Fluent English and German language skills both written and verbal essential. Polish or Russian language(s) in addition would be preferable
  • Post-qualification experience in commercial as well as international environments
  • Previous job experience in managing/leading a compliance & risk function
  • Experienced in managing notified body matters within a certification & testing organisation
  • Leadership qualities, able to lead a team and influence senior management across the region and outside
  • Willing to travel (within Germany, UK, Eastern Europe and CIS) as well as build and maintain relationships by phone/e-mail
  • IT skills, especially SAP, advanced Excel and database skills would be a plus
